TY Icon Design for Book Review with Brian Fitzgerald Illustrator

On Wednesday 11th February the TY Art students at Assumption Secondary School were given a brief from an imaginary magazine client who needs an Icon for their monthly Book Review page.

The client brief expressed a preference for ideas with a sense of fun and imagination that should immediately engage the viewer.
The classroom became the meeting room where discussion and brainstorming took place where the client and artists contributed ideas. A whiteboard was used to record and mind-map the progress.
The students filled their notebooks with the shared concepts and will continue to add more ideas during their midterm break.
When they return each will choose their preferred design and bring it to the next stage. We will aim for a stylised finished art-work in black and white (felt pen?) suitable for scanning into a digital editing program such as photoshop. We will continue with this project on the 26th/Feb/2015.
